Stormy weather, just can't get my poor self together
The Perfecting Equilibrium Digest, May 6-19, 2025
Don't know why there's no sun up in the sky
Stormy weather
Keeps raining all the time
Life is bare, gloom and misery everywhere
Stormy weather, just can't get my poor self together
I'm weary all the time, the time, so weary all the time
Editor’s Note: It’s Wrath of God Thunderstorm season here in Tejas. We’re getting rain by the bucket, hail…pretty much everything just short of frogs and fish. Tornados, too: last night we had two F1s, two F0s, and the amusingly named FU. The latter is when the National Weather Service declares something a tornado, but doesn’t have enough evidence — damage — to measure wind strength. Stormy weather: Just your usual Texas Spring! Also, this digest covers two weeks because we didn’t have a column on Mother’s Day.

Ricoh Imagining's strong performance drove its division's sales up by more than a third in Fiscal Year 2024, Ricoh announced May 14. "In fiscal 2024, this segment’s sales increased by 36.2% (an increase of 32.9% excluding foreign currency exchange fluctuations) year-on-year to ¥35.8 billion. Both sales and profit increased due to the strong performance of the Digital camera-related business, mainly due to the contribution of new products."
Those new products included the Pentax 17, and the Ricoh GR III/IIIx HDF.

My brain is a peculiar place; it likes to play word association, and then play back songs with those words. Here are the songs playing in my mind as I wrote these articles.

The New Golden Age of Black and White Photography article showed how much detail is lost by the Bayer color array and its accompanying deBayering process. Afterwards I got to wondering: all that’s wasted when scanning Black & White film. Could that make monochrome cameras the Ultimate Black & White scanning machines? Let’s take a look!
