Christopher you forgot to add a Postscript that between the end of the first Marcos regime and Bongbong being elected President that we lost Clark and Subic Bay and the 1,000’s of Philipinnos that worked at the two bases lost their source of income because the intervening governments were idols. And we won’t even mention that there is not even one Navy Federal Credit Union branch or ATM still in the Philippines for all the expats to utilize. Oh and please tell us someday about the time you told a group of Marines what to do, it is a story we would like to read…..😁

Ha! Never told Marines what to do -- I don't have a death wish. However as a certified Army line doggy I am required by law to make fun of Marines, so when I play golf with Marines I yell "Hit the beach!" every time we pass a sand trap. Keeps 'em busy for hours!

Great point about the closures of Clark and Subic, though I think you have to also factor in the destruction of Clark by Mount Pinatubo. That changed the negotiations from a bases agreement to one including the rebuilding of the airfield. I've been back to Angeles since the handover; it's pretty interesting to see what became of Clark. Perhaps that's a story to tell; I'll add it to my idea list...
