Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues
And you know it don't come easy
You don't have to shout or leap about
You can even play them easy
Forget about the past and all your sorrows
The future won't last, it will soon be your tomorrow

Photography The Way it Used To Be
An interview with Ken Curry, president, Ricoh Imaging North America
By cjfeola in Photo Industry News on Jul 30, 2024
Ken Curry’s first job was working in a one-hour photo lab, so it’s no surprise that when the President of Ricoh Imaging North America is on the road these days his Ricoh GRIII is accompanied by the new Pentax 17. His serious kit is anchored by a Pentax K-3 III, but he also carries a full-frame camera: a Pentax LX.
I grew up in the photo industry, Curry told Pentax Forums Monday. My very first day in this business I worked in a one-hour photo lab loading film for about four hours, went on break for an hour, then came back and sorted prints for four hours. That's how I started. It was a one-hour photo lab with all that smell of chemistry in a mall. And it's kind of grown from there. I've always had a passion for photography, and really, really enjoyed it. It's nice to be able to do something along these lines and just kind of have it continue and grow. So I feel pretty fortunate for that.

My brain is a peculiar place; it likes to play word association, and then play back songs with those words. Here are the songs playing in my mind as I wrote these articles.

Sunday, August 11th — Become a Venn Master and control your career destiny; Business is business, whether you are a multinational corporation or a freelance drummer, and the same rules apply. And for individuals, the answer to those rules is simple: Become a Venn master, grasshopper. Venn Diagrams were those three intersecting circles that illustrated set theory during all those math classes back in the day. Becoming a Venn Master means working your way from the crowd in those big circles into the oh so exclusive groups in those tiny intersections.
