You never listen to the voices inside
They fill your ears as you run to a place to hide
You're never sure if the illusion is real
You pinch yourself but the memories are all you feel
Can you break away from your alibies
Can you make a play, will you meet me in the dark

I’ve mentioned that I’m working on a piece about the New Golden Age of Black & White Photography. Quick summary — the extraordinary dynamic range of both monochrome-sensor cameras and OLED displays offers results that outperform even the best Zone System wet darkroom. Several folks have asked for samples, and I’m working on shareable RAW files shot in controlled conditions. In the meantime, here are some quick-and-dirty examples I shot today with a monopod.
Pentax K3 III Monochrome with the SMC Pentax-DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL
24mm F4 1/60th sec ISO 320
24mm F20 1/800th sec ISO 65,535
Straight out of the camera JPEGs. When I do the RAWs I’ll use a fixed aperture and shutter speed, and adjust the lighting.

Sunday January 28th — About that time I set out for Europe and accidentally ended up in Asia. Twice.
