Steve Ross on careful making wishes in the dark: Good test image. I like the final, and would like to see how much detail actually exists in the deep-shadow side of the tree-trunk -- not to change your edit but just to see if it is somewhat preserved. I usually HATE blown-out highlights so I appreciate the sidewalk detail preserved. I keep all my cameras at 0.3 EV -- the Pentax K-1, K-3 and the Sony half-frames. Figure I can still rescue shadow detail and get fewer blowouts. That's what Photoshop is for...
