I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by
Dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head
Until my darkness goes
I wanna see it painted
Painted black
Black as night
Black as coal
I wanna see the sun
Blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted
Painted black, yeah

The Monochrome makes you see differently, and pushes you into photographic situations that shouldn’t work. This is the first year I’ve had it during Texas Bluebonnet season, when the Lone Star state is carpeted with wildflowers for a week or two. Last year I went tip-toeing through the bluebonnets with the Olympus Pen-F set to it’s vivid color Kodachrome emulation mode. This year I took the Monochrome with the 50mm F2.8 Macro. I’m not sure it’s the right lens for this. But that’s OK; there’s always next year!

Without the Industrial Age benefits of economies of scale, the vast edifices that powered manufacturing economies like the United States will simply break down. Without those benefits, the bonds will simply fade. States will act more and more independently, and the Federal Government will have less ability to respond.
