Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning
The Perfecting Equilibrium Digest, August 7-13, 2024
Hot summer streets and the pavements are burning
I sit around
Trying to smile but the air is so heavy and dry
Strange voices are sayin' (what did they say?)
Things I can't understand
It's too close for comfort, this heat has got right out of hand
It's a cruel, (cruel) cruel summer
Editor’s Note-August break: Well we’re deep into the dog days of August and our annual summer readership dip. Folks are on vacation, and it’s just too hot to read a bunch of serious ruminations about anything. Also, we’re going to have a lot of new content about the Pentax 17 first look review in the Thursday vlog and Foto.Feola.Fridays. So we’ll be doing The Best of Perfecting Equilibrium Sunday readers for the next few weeks.

Ricoh launches 2 new rugged industrial cameras
RICOH G900 II, RICOH G900SE II are waterproof, dustproof, shock- and chemical-resistant, and password protected
By cjfeola in Pentax Announcements on Aug 7, 2024
The RICOH G900 II and RICOH G900SE II 20.0-megapixel cameras announced today by Ricoh Imaging Americas are heavy-duty industrial cameras designed for demanding jobsites in industries such as construction, manufacturing, disaster relief and healthcare. Both cameras are highly resistant to water, dust, shock and chemicals, and are equipped with a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor that supports ISOs up to 25,600.
The new cameras are waterproof to a depth of 65.6 feet (20 meters) for up to two hours of continuous operation, and highly resistant to chemicals. A protective reinforced glass element has been incorporated to the front surface of the lens, and protectors added at crucial body points. They’re dustproof, shockproof against falls of 6.8 feet (2.1 meters), cold-resistant to temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C), and crushproof against weights of up to 220 pound-force (100 kilogram-force).
Easter Eggs
My brain is a peculiar place; it likes to play word association, and then play back songs with those words. Here are the songs playing in my mind as I wrote these articles.

Sunday August 18th — About that time I got banned from the Pacific Rim; When I fight authority authority always wins: What’s the worst trouble you’ve ever gotten yourself in? Ever been told to leave town? Ever been asked to leave a club and never return? A city? A state? Ever been declared persona non grata and been thrown out of a country? I wrote a story that so enraged the Pentagon that they banned me from the Pacific Rim. They also chiseled my name off the newsroom wall. They also fired my publisher, which is a lot less funny. Though very little of it was funny at the time.
