Big in Japan

I got the style but not the grace
I got the clothes but not the face
I got the bread but not the butter
I got the window but not the shutter
But I’m big in Japan
I’m big in Japan, hey, but I’m big in Japan

Photos taken 1985-87 in Japan while I was stationed in Tokyo as a Pacific Stars & Stripes photojournalist.
I used to spend weekends wandering Tokyo with my Pentax Auto 110 loaded with Kodachrome. Somehow I always ended up in Harajuku…Street performer, Pentax Auto 110 70mm lens.
Geishas on the street in a business district. Pentax Auto 110 Super, Pentax Auto 110 70mm lens, Kodak Kodachrome 100 110.
Shoreline, Sea of Japan. Pentax Auto 110 Super, Kodak Kodachrome 100 110. I think the lens was the 70mm again; I pretty much shot with it all the time.
